Conservation Commission meeting minutes 8-3-2010

August 3, 2010 Conservation Commission Minutes 1. The meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm by Chairman Gary Pelton. Members present: Gary Pelton, Chris Harris, Tina Wood and MaryBeth Reville. The minutes of the July meeting were accepted as written. We met at the Weathersfield Meeting House where the workshop on Invasive Plant Species will take place on the 10th. Most of the meeting was spent checking how we will set up the displays of the various plants that have been prepared by the interns from the Student Conservation Association. Gary also planned the set up for his power point presentation. Chris reported that he and Mary Beth had walked a subdivision with property owner, Herbert "Chip" Steele, on Dan Jarvis RD. No conservation issues were found. Chris asked Gary about a weed that is growing in his pond and it was decided that we would go after the meeting so it could be identified. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 Gary identified the plant in Chris' pond as "Coon Tail" which is a native aquatic plant. Submitted by MaryBeth Reville
