Veterans Memorial Committee Meeting Minutes September 30, 2008 Committee Members Present: Chip Cobb Bob Dickenson deForest Bearse Lisa Sargent Fred Mellish Edith Stillson 1. Approve minutes from the last two meetings: August 4 and 26, 2008 Edith Stillson motioned to approve the minutes of the August 4th and August 26th meetings as presented. Lisa Sargent seconded the motion and all were in favor. 2. Funds Drive Activities Mums Sale Profit from the sale was $433. Lisa Sargent made a motion to authorize deForest to submit Claussen's bill for payment of an amount not to exceed $460. Edith Stillson seconded the motion and all were in favor. LLBean Gift Wrapping LLBean at the Powerhouse Mall in West Lebanon offers nonprofit organizations the opportunity to raise funds through holiday gift-wrapping. LLBean provides the materials and the location. Participants keep whatever revenue they generate on the day they wrap. They are limited to one day. LLBean will also match the amount raised. Several members expressed interest in volunteering. Lisa offered to obtain more information. Capital Campaign Grant The Committee has received an application form for possible grant funding through Co-operative Insurance Companies. The Committee agreed to try to submit the application for $1,000. Christmas for our Troops Many donations have been collected thus far and collection will continue. There will be collection boxes set out at the upcoming barbecue. Chip has received a $70 cash donation to help with shipping costs. Lisa will contact area stores for additional donations and the UPS store in Lebanon for shipping information. Chip will contact General Dubie's office for information on where to send the donated items. Julia will put an article in the Eagle Times about the project. Chicken Barbecue Final plans were discussed and set for the upcoming barbecue. The Committee chose to purchase chicken from Liberal Beef in Claremont. At $1.12 per pound, their price was lowest of those quoted. Additional items to be purchased include charcoal, ice, place settings and take-out containers. Items being donated include cole slaw, potato salad, desserts, rolls, butter, water, soda, coffee, cream, sugar, the pit, and firewood. Edith will supply power cords. The pit will be delivered to Martin Hall on the preceding Friday. The fire will be started at 7 AM on Saturday. Cooking will start at 8 AM. 4. Comments from attendees None. 8. Next meeting date selection The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2008. at 7:00 PM in the Town Office.
