Meeting Minutes

July 18, 2011

Present: Chip Cobb, Lisa Slade, Edith Stillson, Ernie and Cookie Shand, Jeff Slade, Bob Dickinson, Fred Mellish, Gloria Ballantine, Bev Howe, deForest Bearse

Guests: Jeremy Osgood, Westley Hazeltine, Shannon Stevens

1. Minutes of Previous Meeting - June 28, 2011

Edith Stillson motioned to approve the minutes of the June 28^th meeting as presented. Fred Mellish seconded the motion and all were in favor.

2. Displaying the Roll of Honor

Chip presented an idea for displaying the Roll of Honor at the monument (see attachment to minutes). Jeremy Osgood was invited to discuss a concrete base for the stand and a pressed concrete path between the stand and the monument. Shannon Stevens was invited to discuss landscaping ideas for the Roll of Honor display.

There was much discussion about the grouping of the names by conflict, but concerns were raised about names that fall in between discrete events or service through multiple conflicts. Also raised was concern regarding salt damage to the display. No decisions were made.

3. 250^th Celebration

Lisa and Jeff will sell popcorn and water at the celebration from 11AM - 8PM.

4. Other Business

Cookie updated the group on the educational component. Dick Ballantine and Chip Cobb have been interviewed. Their interviews will be displayed at the 250^th celebration.

The group agreed that the educational component needs more focus, and agreed to speak to the teachers at the school once school starts again. Also we need to discuss plans for Veterans Day. Possibly unveil the Roll of Honor?

5. Comments from Citizens - None.

6. Next meeting will be on August 30, 2011 at Martin Hall at 6:30 PM.

7. Lisa Slade motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 PM. Bob Dickinson seconded the motion and all were in favor.
