The Town of Weathersfield is proposing to hire a certified arborist to perform $3,000
worth of tree work in the Memorial Grove at the Weathersfield Center Meeting House.
The Memorial Grove is a grove of sugar maples on town-owned land that was originally
planted by the citizens of Weathersfield immediately after the Civil War to honor those who lost
their lives in the war. These very old trees are in need of professional care by a certified arborist.
There are 90 trees, including original and replacement trees.
Each tree is numbered. The Town has a prioritized checklist for the entire grove that lists
what trees need cleaning and/or cabling.
The Town will work with the chosen arborist to decide on a work plan totaling $3,000 as
recommended by the arborist.
Work recommended by the arborist will likely include:
• Crown clean 1" and larger branches and structural prune by removing crossing
and rubbing branches to improve shape/structure.
• Inspect and repair existing cables.
• Install cables in trees that need mechanical support because of bad unions.
Sealed proposals, clearly marked "Arborist Proposal" on the outside, must be received no
later then noon on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at the following address:

bidder," in addition to price, the following may be considered:

and other terms and conditions of the solicitation;
2. The ability, capacity and skill of the bidder to provide the services
required, and to do so within the time specified;
3. The character, integrity, reputation, experience, financial resources and
performance of the proposer under previous contracts with the municipality and

completion of similar work. The chosen contractor may be required to demonstrate that he or
she consistently performs work using the highest quality of workmanship. The chosen contractor
